German Opera at the Rhine

The design for the future opera house marks the beginning of a new era of a democratic opera house that is accessible to all [...]. For the city of Düsseldorf, this means not only a new enhancement of the Hofgarten in the south with an optimized route, but also a respectful conclusion to the important city axis of Königsallee. In its basic form, the design describes an arc of a circle and creates a harmonious connection between Königsallee and Grabbeplatz, which functions as the entrance to the old town. This connection is made in a simple and natural gesture.
