JEP1, Düsseldorf
Downtown Düsseldorf: New green hotel and retail building
The 'JEP1' project in Düsseldorf is characterized by its harmonious integration into the existing cityscape. The curved façade elegantly adapts to the heights of the surrounding buildings and at the same time opens up new lines of sight to the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus. This architectural concept is in direct dialog with the neighboring projects of ingenhoven associates, in particular the Kö-Bogen II, and underlines the urban planning expertise for complex sustainable construction projects.
The building consistently follows the supergreen® principles, a holistic approach to future-oriented and sustainable construction. This philosophy is reflected in the innovative façade design: a double façade with an inner layer of aluminum and wood and a translucent outer shell of steel and glass is installed on the street side. In contrast, the courtyard side will be fitted with aluminum and timber window elements and a green façade.
The location on Joachim-Erwin-Platz, one of Düsseldorf's busiest traffic junctions, points to the special significance of the project for the urban development of the city. The green inner courtyard not only creates added aesthetic value, but also contributes to improving the microclimate and natural ventilation of the building. As with Kö-Bogen II, this well thought-out integration of green spaces into the architecture sets forward-looking standards for sustainable urban planning.
