A future-oriented neighbourhood in harmony with nature
The aim of the project is to create a future-orientated, ecologically sustainable and economically efficient urban district that takes both social and ecological aspects into account. The design will create a distinctive and vibrant area that combines high-quality living space and modern working environments in a harmonious setting. Particular emphasis is placed on creating a public space that meets the requirements of a modern society while offering a high quality of life.
The design takes into account the natural environment and utilises the unique geographical features of Andorra to ensure optimal access to daylight and fresh air. At the same time, the intelligent division of the building masses creates a clear separation between the luxurious flats and the hotel area. Despite the functional connection between the two utilisation units in terms of service and comfort, the respective identities remain clearly recognisable.
A key objective was to give the future residents and hotel guests the best possible view of the surrounding mountains. This was achieved by making the buildings permeable without blocking the view of the mountains and at the same time ensuring efficient construction. In order to preserve the lines of sight, the building heights were adjusted to respect the boundary with the neighbouring Sant Ermengol schoolyard without reducing the number of storeys. The resulting heights continue to offer a high quality of living and enable an economically viable development.
The use of environmentally friendly materials and energy-efficient systems makes the project a model for the future. In addition, great emphasis was placed on the design of space and materials - for example, natural stone elements are part of the modern design and emphasise the connection between the project and its natural surroundings.
The flexibility of the design and the willingness to respond to comments received during the presentation demonstrate the team's commitment to finding the best solutions for all parties involved. Various alternatives were developed to maintain the original concept ideas while meeting the requirements and wishes.
