ingenhoven associates’ winning proposal for Düsseldorf’s “Opera of the Future”

Opera for all

Ingenhoven associates is one of the winners in the urban planning competition for the Düsseldorf Opera at the Heinrich-Heine-Allee site. The design for the Düsseldorf "Opera of the Future" aims to create an inclusive and stimulating space for cultural experiences. The "place for all" offers an inspiring experience for the city's residents and visitors alike. The arched geometry blends gently into the listed Hofgarten and accentuates the entrance to the historic city centre with a simple and natural gesture. The adjacent Grabbeplatz extends thematically to the water's edge of the park. An additional pedestrian crossing at the edge of the square improves connectivity along Heinrich-Heine-Allee and enlivens it.
