CTBUH 10 Year Award for 1 Bligh, Sydney
We are delighted that 1 Bligh has again been recognised by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat - CTBUH with the 10 Year Award – Overall Category for 2011 Completions!
When we designed 1 Bligh we were aiming for a sustainable addition to the city – a “friendly neighbour” in the realm, which positively impacts the environment through its ecologically sustainable design. Rather than just creating an architectural landmark on the skyline, we wanted to create a truly public space by dedicating the ground floor to the public. Adding another layer of social sustainability besides pioneering the double-skin façade, naturally ventilated offices, and black water recycling system – all firsts for an office high-rise in Australia – we exceeded the criteria for the building’s 6 Star Green rating. But the greatest reward for all the efforts of the team is to see that the space has become an integral, lively icon in the Sydney CBD landscape.
The award was announced at the 2021 CTBUH Tall + Urban Innovation Conference last night.
