1st prize for new construction of the Fraunhofer Institute IWES in Kassel
ingenhoven architects win 1st prize for the new construction of the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology in Kassel. The new building will be the kick-off project of the former railway area`s transformation into an urban Service and Business Zone, in the north of the main station Kassel.
The Jury assessed: “The flat building with three stories is situated parallel to the railway tracks, with a well-proportioned forecourt in the western part of the plot. The flat, horizontal building is furthermore an elegant counterpart of the employment centre`s vertical High-Rise. The control room, correctly situated at the south-eastern roof-edge, offers amazing city views.”
All competition entries will be exhibited from 16th to 27th july 2014 in the KAZ – Kasseler Architektur-Zentrum.
