Exhibition: ALLE. Künstlerinnen und Künstler in der Overbeck-Gesellschaft 1918-2018

ingenhoven architects are contributing a sketch to the anniversary exhibition on the occasion of the centenary of the Lübeck Kunstverein. It shows the Peek & Cloppenburg business building in Lübeck designed by the Düsseldorf architectural office with its characteristic curved concrete roof shells. Christoph Ingenhoven made the sketch in 2000 in collaboration with Peter Wels.

The fashion and business building for Peek & Cloppenburg, one of the leading German textile retailers, is located in the medieval center of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. Following the demolition of two buildings from the fifties, the office building, completed at the beginning of 2005, closed the gap in the marketplace ensemble of the old town under UNESCO protection.

The revival of the traditional trading location on the Lübeck market had a positive effect for the Lübeck retail trade as a whole, but also for the revitalization of the historic city center. The exhibition piece on loan from ingenhoven architects shows this Lübeck-relevant project, whose planning and construction period extended over the years 2000–2005.

The exhibition ALLE. Künstlerinnen und Künstler in der Overbeck-Gesellschaft 1918–2018 shows a selection of national and international art history with 375 works since the founding of the Kunstverein to the present day.
