Barangaroo Sydney

Transformation of Barangaroo area

The transformation of the Barangaroo area into a new urban precinct in Sydney builds upon the city’s unique and diverse qualities. It is designed to lead the way in conserving resources and protecting the environment. By creating new waterways into the site, and by completing the nearby Headland Park, the extent of the publicly-accessible foreshore will be significantly increased and will further emphasize Sydney’s image as a harbour city. The master plan considerably increases the available amount of public space – more than two-thirds of the site will be open parkland. It is important that this zone is visible and identifiable from, within and around the city. The iconic architecture will be a marker for the area and will create visual connectivity to the CBD – Central Business District – and the harbour, thus identifying Barangaroo as Sydney’s premier business precinct. The design will enhance the life of the citizens, who will enjoy a wonderful place to work, live and play.
