High-rise RWE building, Essen

High-rise RWE building, Essen
Ingenhoven Overdiek and Partners (Ed.)
Düsseldorf 1997

The high-rise building for RWE AG in Essen was completed at the end of 1996. With this wind tunnel-tested high-rise building, the decisive step has been taken towards a type of high-rise building that no longer works against the processes for natural balance but, thanks to its efficiency in terms of synergies and energy consumption, works with these processes both architecturally and technically. A second skin in the form of a 120 meter high glass cylinder which allows natural air exchange, and roof terraces also at this height, and a simple logical building concept with intelligent technical solutions were used to meet the needs of users with respect to daylight and natural ventilation.
