this is modern—The German pavilion in Venice, Palazzo Ca’Tron, Venice

On the occasion of the 14th Architecture Biennale in Venice, the Deutsche Werkbund Berlin showed the "this is modern" exhibition at the Palazzo Ca’Tron on Canal Grande; the exhibition deals with the issue of modern architecture and design.
22 architectural practices from Germany, amongst them ingenhoven architects, were invited to showcase their position and attitude to the design brief using drawings, sketches, and models. The brief asked for solutions for the German pavilion in Venice, after the President of the Federal Chamber of German Architects had demanded its demolition several years previously. In people’s minds, the building was considered dilapidated, which gave the architects the opportunity to design a new building in its place.
